Okay so I’m in 8th grade and going into highschool next year, my school doesn’t have a CAD program so I was going to obtain it for myself I’ve gone onto Autodesk.com a few times but can’t find anything can someone post a link to the page where I can buy/obtain the software
You first have to create and account, then you can get any software you would like FREE. Go to this link: http://students.autodesk.com/?nd=download_center
Hope this is what you were looking for.
The above link is exactly what you need. But when you download Inventor, be warned: the files are HUGE and take a LONG time to download. So make sure you have some time set aside for that.
Also, if you need any assistance learning how to use the software, I would be glad to help. I’m sure several other members here on the forums would also say the same thing.
I have a qusestion too. Do you have to CAD all the vex piecees before you can use them or does it automatically have vex parts to put together.
You have to import them to Inventor. Here are some Inventor libraries that have most of the parts.
1200B’s Library:

Aperture’s Library:

24C’s Library:

Hope this helps.
I do not know (personally) how to import the libraries
Just about every piece can be found here as a STEP file:
https://vexforum.com/wiki/index.php/VEXCAD
No one likes STEPs though
So Inventor is free
Yes. It is free if your a student.
Yes! I was so exited when I saw it was free! Can’t go wrong with Free things.
Oh and you guys are going to need a semi powerful graphics on your computer otherwise it will lag a lot.
Download the file, and copy/paste into your working directory (something like Documents\Inventor\Vex.…)
