Quick question: how does the average day in a Robot Skills comp. look like (ex: times, lunch break, match schedule)
Are Driver Skills and Programmer Skills on seperate fields? Are there designated times for break?
Thanks.
The skills only tournaments we have seen have all been run the same way. They have a starting time and an ending time. Usually, there has not been a limit to the number or runs, but there can be. Teams show up and do their runs and leave. At the end of the tournament, the highest combined score wins whether or not they are present.
Most do not offer a trophy. The teams are generally there to try to get a score that is high enough to get them to worlds.
Both the Programming and Driver skills runs shared the same field.
But the driver will need to indicate to the field scorer/referee which run they are making before the timing starts.
In Singapore, we will also record our runs as well. This is to ensure transparency and also serve as evidence that the teams did made those runs.
Nice 202 by 8059A.
Thanks…
But the boys are still worried that it is not good enough to make it to worlds…
I would be very surprised if a 202 doesn’t qualify for worlds…
202 will definitely make it to worlds. It’ll probably also place you around 5th in skills at worlds.
I think 8059a should qualify too…
More concern with the rest of my teams actually.
But it is still early days… all the states competitions are happening soon. So we should be seeing some very good scores.
I think it is difficult to define an “average” Skills Competition. It really depends on how the event partner chooses to set it up. Typically we have two fields set-up and a team can run either Programming or Driver on either field. As for schedule, we just have the event open for a certain period of time. Teams come in anytime, do their skills runs and leave. NO formal schedule, NO scheduled lunch break.
