Today, I got 242 points for the first time! Here is the video:
He still had 3 seconds left!
Awesome job! 242 points is no easy feat.
Nicely done! I haven’t really been following Vex IQ this season so I’m curious: why is this sort of design so much more prevalent than the three-arm design?
I am sure that other people have their own reasons for not choosing to stick with the three arm design, but my big reason is that it is big and slow. Although you could probably fix the slow arm problem to a large extent with new motors, a fresh battery, and some unique designing, there is also the other problem. It is a big robot, and this year I have learned how valuable a light, small, fast robot can be. The three arm design could be made really good I think (although not quite as good as some other robots), but lost popularity due to other designs. I’d like to hear some other people’s reasons for changing to other designs though.
I changed over from conveyors to this design because the conveyors weren’t working well, and the 3 arm design wouldn’t allow for an active claw.
