Best single flywheel design

I was just browsing the internet for single flywheel designs, and I have seen many variations. I was wondering if there is one specific design that would be more effective than most of the others. What is the best design that you guys have seen? About how many normal v4 motors would be optimal?

There’s tons of flywheel reveals from back in Nothing But Net, the most well known being Discobots (personally speaking). You can definitely come up with iterations of different robots or use certain ideas from past robots. There have also been reveals for this game using flywheels like 929U and 448X.

We currently run our flywheel with 2 v4 motors at a 25:1 gear ratio (high speed) and it works perfectly

I do the same but I use 3 HS motors.

Should ratcheting the Flywheel and the 1st Gear be implemented?
The Flywheel’s momentum would be conserved, and the gears’ torque don’t damage the motor, since turning motors while de-powered leads to electricity being generated when the gears turn (causes motor to get warm)

We do not because that messes up our programming flywheel speeds.

Do you need ratchets with V5 motors? Does there Coast brake type work instead of ratchets?

Shouldn’t need ratchets with V5 motors. Some of my teams are using the Coast brake type.
