Best type of lift for Skyrise

Our team was wondering what the rest of the community will be using as their lift this season , if you could use the poll we would be very thankful. The data will also be visible to other teams if they would like to use it.

I’ve been experimenting with 8-bars.

P.s.-- what is a 3-bar??

I really don’t know. Maybe a chain bar (4 bar with only one bar but chain). To me a 3 bar linkage sounds like a triangle, which is a shape generally well known for not moving.

Don’t want to share any ideas, but what I’ve been thinking of is a scissor type mechanism, but not directly a standard scissor lift.

Yeah I really didn’t know how to explain it in so few words but I guess it is like a Danny lift but with another attached to that to get extra height. If that made any sense .

Triple reverse chain bar i guess? Although that will be so high.

Yeah let’s go for that name. On one of our teams bot it’s get just to the too of the Skyrise.

Could someone please enlighten me why both Linear lift and elevator lift are both included in the poll? Surely a linear lift is a general category or lifts that only have vertical motion fit into like the elevator, reverse double 4 bar and scissor. (What ones did I miss:confused:) I feel that the categories overlap in this poll…

Woah, I’d love to see that one! With the poor quality of the High Strength Chain, I’d expect that the slack through 3 stages would be quite a bit without some adjustment system at the higher stages. Not to mention the large force on the bottom one, and the wear and maintenance of the chain.

I think you would have to replace th chain every Mach and the metal every tournament which would be a waste of time.:o

I myself am going for a reverse double four bar (you can check it out on my youtube channel) just because of the ability to easily reach over 60" and remain stable. Others in my team are going for different lifts for their robots though so we should be able to gather info on the best lift to use later on this season

From experience, I love reverse double 4 bars. When made correctly, they are surprisingly stable, linear and agile.

I’ve never experienced an RD4B until this season began (which you could tell from seeing my first version of my robot :stuck_out_tongue: ) and so far I’m loving them! My second version has proved to be much more stable with refining and the linear capabilities of going vertically up and down in the same plane makes for many possibilities for designing which I’m loving!

Having just been to a competition, I have a small understanding of what teams seem to be doing this year. We were one of the three or four teams to make a reverse-double four bar. Ours kept listing to the right, and while it could be fixed with encoders, we would prefer a more mechanical solution. Some of the best teams used an elevator lift, and it would be very good for this game if only it could use side rollers (they work insanely well at picking up the cubes).
