What is the best vex game in your opinion? Mine is Tipping point from what i’ve seen
I like stacking games. In the zone looks fun. Tower takeover seems fun too. Spin up looks like it was pretty epic tho
Yeah, tipping point was a good one. That was my first year and there were so many robot designs it was crazy. The balancing aspect was probably the hardest part. However, I think I have to say that this year’s game is my favorite because of all the different things to do. Also, the middle barriers provide just a bit more difficulty than an open field.
I think spinup was a W game. Overall it was incredibly fun and included a lot of different mechs to play frisbee golf lol. I think this years game is the most interesting and somewhat difficult since the playing field is very hard to navigate due to the barriers. It is also challenging to climb, since you will probably have to alter your robot in order to get an elevation.
I haven’t seen anything better than Gateway yet.
in my opinion Tip or Turning Point or SU jsut becaue of such a diverse meta and lots of different robot desighns could thrive.
I think Round Up and Turning Point were some of the best games imo. Just from a strategy and robot standpoint
Spin up and tower takeover were hands down the best games imo. They were just so diverse with slightly varying metas, which I prefer because it has a ton of good robots with many ways to make them better.
spin up solos. it was fast paced but not too crazy, it had multiple scoring options and it allowed for fun gameplay with fun offense and defense.
respectable I was gonna compete inn spin up (was my 6th grade year) but my teammates sucked at building
for me tipping point was very fun as it provided a lot of exitement for auton and gave a very agressive drivers period, su was just too repetitive in our state and got boring fast
Tipping point was my favorite by far because it was my first year, I could enjoy just competing instead of feeling that I had to win. It was also just the best game by far due to all the tasks and usually the more complex it got, the better it worked/won more.
Turning point for sure.
Favorite is probably spin up. If sg11 only applied if the other team was actively trying to elevate it would be this year
VRC Starstruck. A lot of back and forth. And that huge fence in the middle.
My favorite game, also with a fence is “Clean Sweep”. Lots of strategy with game play. “A fence means no defense” was proven wrong with robots deploying blocking wings to bounce balls back into the field. Very clever designs that I saw from east coast teams were from 44 (Green Eggs) and the entire line up of Team 12 robots from VA.
At the time (2009) there was a TSA version played on a 8’x8’ field in a 1v1 format. TSA national champ video
The TSA version is my all time favorite game. We played it locally right after the season ended to give roboteers things to do in April and May.
My second year of VEXIQ there were some “We want to play” parents" and we played a version with 4" footballs and some 2.5" foam balls. Wall was built out of VEX parts. It was fun, a little tight on the 4x8’ field, it may play better today on the 6x8’ field sizes.
Didn’t compete in it… but Tower Takeover prompted the creation of some interesting “tall” robots.
Tipping point for sure
In my opinion Spin Up was the best game because it was very simple but it was good at sorting teams into different skill levels.
Turning point because it was back and forth. Also, easy to explain and understand to parents and people watching.
