I have my brain set to bluetooth, and is see it in my windows 10 list of bluetooth devices, cannot pair. When using v5 installed software, no option to use bluetooth, help?
You cannot use Bluetooth on computers, it has something to do with Bluetooth low energy and can only be used on tablets or phones I believe.
I see 2 possible problems:
- The brain is set to Bluetooth but “radio data” isn’t on
- Vexcode was denied access to Bluetooth when you set it up and it is still off
So fun fact the Bluetooth method is typically used for skills and is not a viable way to code as I believe. You would want to use the USB port on the side to plug into your computer. Then when you connect the device it will say (Vex Communications Port) Im pretty sure connect to that then you can download code to the brain.
Hi! I’m pretty new too, and I’m not the builder but I think I can help. When my builder was connecting the brain to the code, she used a certain wire. I never saw her using Bluetooth, but i’m sure there’s a way. If you look online, there have to be some basic videos somewhere too. Ask your coach! Hope I helped and good luck!
Thanks, the brain is set “Radio Data On”, and initially installing Vexcode, was denied access to bluetooth. How do I change that so Vexcode has access?
Note: This is from a student with 3 years of experience, so take it as you will. Aways have your brain and controller radio set to Vexnet, no exceptions. Secondly, you will get a USB B wire, and will connect the USB to your computer, and the part that matches the connection port on the brain (or controller) will go in there. Make sure your brain and controller are connected. Then sometimes, you will have to click the “brain” button, then connect. If you don’t need to, you can just click “download” and work from there. If you need to manually do it, press connect in the previously mentioned “brain” button at the top of Vexcode V5. Then, you are going to click “connect,” “continue,” then find the devices. If there are 2, don’t worry, this happens. Connect to one of them, and if it does not connect, repeat the previous steps, then select the other device. When it is connected, you can download and be on your way. If this is too hard to understand, I can break it down further.
Typically this will happen on chromebook with 2 ports it will have the smaller last digit so 0 - is for coding 1 - is for console
Edit: when I say to press “connect” twice, that was a mistake, you need to press it once.
Good info, however I think it’s USB a to micro usb
I forget how the cables work, but I assume that the USB A to micro USB is the cable
