Broken CSS/JavaScript on iPad Safari

Yesterdays update broke the CSS for me on iPad Safari.

When I come to the system, my ID circle has green and blue circles saying I have a new PM and some indirect likes or comments.

Pressing the identity circle no longer opens a sub window showing me the notifications.

This is a huge problem for me. The same change was made on the Chief Delphi forum and made it unusable for me.

Can we get this update rolled back or figure out a patch to fix the notification issue.

Thanks @DRow for looking into this.

It works correctly on my Android phone when using VEX Forum as an app (installed from Chrome). It might be a bug that’s only in certain browsers, or in iOS vs. Android.

I also saw that the max-number-of-likes message mentions gaining trust levels now.

Were you ever able to get it working on CD? As far as I remember, there wasn’t anything I was able to do for that hardware/browser combo…

Nope, I wasn’t, it just became a huge pain and I quit going to CD.

Looks like @DRow made a double version jump (.5 to .7) so I don’t know if he’ll be able to figure out what code broke it.

For what it’s worth it’s also broken on the meta site. So that means it’s some core functionality, not one of your local patches.

/sigh

This one’s on me, spare @DRow.

We are a few versions ahead of where CD was when it was an issue. I’ll look back at the browser and hardware versions and see what can be done for you.

For me on an iPad and safari the header doesn’t seem to be sticking to the top correctly. Notifications appear to be working though

Oh – the iPad issues you have are also happening on the Discourse meta site?

Was this thread just recategorized from a category that normal users can’t see?

I presume the EP forum…?

Yes. I thought I’d check there since it may not be custom. I don’t know what version was working, if you can put together a version number set I can always file a ticket. It’s unlikely they will fix it since I don’t have a license.

VEX Forum is on 2.7.0.beta7
Chief Delphi is on 2.7.0.beta6

Not sure what version it was last working for you on.

Discourse is free & open source. They are pretty responsive to bug reports assuming you give them enough information and will work with their developers to help reproduce the issue. They also have a paid hosting platform that receives priority support, as well, I believe.

Do you remember what was before this upgrade and the CD one? I’d like to be able to say it worked on version x and doesn’t work on version y

Thanks!

I think it was 2.5.0.beta4
