Recently, one of our schools teams has a cortex literally start smoking. Unfortunately this is not the first time this has happened as it also happened during nothing but net and skyrise. I was wondering If anyone knows the cause of this and how to prevent it from happening again.

This kind of damage happens when there is a direct short in the wiring of the Microcontroller, usually damaged insulation in a motor wire or extension cable are at fault. Unfortunately this will lead to permanent damage to the motor port where the faulty device was connected.
