California is now 4 Regions

As the EP hosting the other two tournaments in CA region 3 (plus the one of the 4 leagues), I think that for this year it is definitely bit of a mess. In the past we have had a few more EPs in our area that would host events, but no longer do because of health issues or retirement.
I’m hopeful that as more teams come back into full competition things will improve for next year,
I miss both attending events in Southern California and having teams from other parts of the state attend our events. (I’m biased, but I think we do a decent job of running our events)
I was wondering if there was a way to have multi-region events that aren’t signature events.

Hi from a team that has been around for a while. It is asham when you go out of your way and send an Email and call the upper echelon to please, don’t put Hesperia in Region #3.
It went in one ear and out the other. I remember when vex had leagues and tournaments galore not anymore.
Such a shame

When I attended the SoCal EP meeting, the RECF representative explained that we needed to split the state into regions because we have so many teams. He explained that RECF cannot properly provide support to everyone when there are so many teams, and that it has become more and more of a problem in recent years. He said that they tried to split them based on geography so that teams could still attend most of the same tournaments as usual, but that the region will actually need to be split even further in the next 1-2 years. The way that region 4 has 2 championships is not ideal, so they will be splitting the region in two eventually. He said that they know that this means that some teams will be geographically close to competitions that won’t qualify them for their regional championships, but that this is really not any different that other states/regions that have two large cities that sit on opposite sides of state/regional borders. He gave several examples. It did help me to understand why RECF went ahead with the change even though it seems unpopular with those of us in California.
