Can 9V 2A power adapter charge the v5 battery?

I lost my vex v5 charger. Can I use a 9V power adapter to charge the battery? The charger fits the port on the battery but I’m afraid it will damage it. I don’t actually know the specifications of my v5 charger but I think it is not exactly 12V
