Can I modify my robot after skill challenge?
We want to use different stagergy in skill challenge and teamwork challenge.
As far as I know, after you get inspected and you want to make changes to your robot, you need to get re-inspected.
We have all ways mad changes to our bot as long as it doesn’t effect high and width . If you are close to being to high or to wide you should get a inspected again ,but is kid of a grey area
I’m pretty sure it is illegal. My team’s rule fiend says no, so… (hes also our captain. )
You can drop parts but not add more.
Yes, you can add parts. Please read <R1> in the game manual (also show your team captian the rule) You need to inspect every configuration of your robot at inspection, otherwise, your “robot” won’t be a robot according to the manual defination.
Please don’t do this. Get it inspected. Don’t get DQed.
This is weird. I think this needs to be clarified. Because if you can do that, then you basicly can build 2 robots, and swap them between matches. Even more if you want. I see no reason, because you can get multiple inspections that this is illegal, because you are supposed to modify your robot at a competition. but that would make the game quite easy.
To give some more clarification:
R1 divides a robot into 3 subsystems.
- The drivebase
- The essential electronics for the drivebase
- The other related mechanisms including additional motors/sensors
You are not allowed to swap subsystems 1/2. So, for example, if you had 2 different robots, that is considered a subsystem 1/2 swap, which is illegal. But, if you change from a t-fling to a choo-choo mechanism (not saying you should actually do this), then that would be a subsystem 3 swap, which is considered legal.
P.S, this can be found simply by reading the game manual make sure to refer to the game manual before posting any topics!
