We already had our online interview, are we still allowed to edit our notebook?
The edits might be disregarded because the notebook is already graded, but I think so. Disclaimer: I only have experience with V5 competition. probably don’t take my advice unless someone with IQ experience backs it up.
You can but there is a chance that the new pages are not read.
If you striving to just have a “complete” notebook for the season, go for it. But if you’re trying get a better score, I can safely say (as a notebook judge for years) that there is a near-zero chance that anything you could add to your notebook between now and worlds would make any difference to your notebook score on the rubric. If you think there is something significant to add, then you can do this during your interview, either online for your first interview, or in person if you did well enough on your first interview to be considered for a judged award an an in-person interview.
The EN is all about the engineering process and the development of your robot design from the beginning of the season. If you review the rubric, you’ll see that most points are earned from early-season game analysis, scheduling (and keeping the schedule), design decisions along with testing, and multiple iterations of the design process. If you’ve done these things, you’ll have a good score. If you haven’t, it’s a little late now for documenting the early design decisions.
OK, to be “by the book” (rather than “I think/I heard”) you need to go here to see what the deadlines are, as it’s based on when you register: Judging Deadlines & Dates | VEX Robotics World Championship
The point of my previous answer was not to worry about making a last-minute edit, because world-class notebooks for design and excellence require the entire season to produce, as they need to document the entire design process, not just the week or two after the state championship, and a last-minute edit won’t make any difference with regards to judging/score of the notebook.
I understand the context. The original inquiry asked whether teams are permitted to edit their notebook after completing their interview. My response is intended to provide clarification in case teams need to make last-minute revisions.
Even if a team were to update their notebook with the goal of elevating it to a world-class standard, it is highly unlikely that judges would consider any content added after the submission deadline.
The official guidelines specify that “Deadlines for your team to submit their Digital Engineering Notebook links and to select their interview time slot are based on the date the invitation for the VEX Robotics World Championship was issued.” This reinforces the importance of adhering strictly to the original deadlines provided.
So whether the user needs to update their notebook, make last minute changes, or revise it to be world class, judges most likely will NOT take a second look at the notebook after the deadline.
