Can robot touch perimeter during 15s automous

Can robot touch premter or the barrier during the 15s autmous? Thanks

Have you read anything in the game manual that says that you cannot? Remember, the game manual tells you only things you must do and things that you are prohibited from doing. It could not tell you everything that you might do, nor does it ever comment on game strategy

Every season will have slightly different restrictions.

but generally, if the game manual didnt say that you can’t, then it is up to the team to decide.

eg. if the game manual didnt have any restriction on it, then the robot can hug the perimeter for the entire match.

The question is it doesn’t say you can’t but it has rule “d” which says “Not violated any other rules”.

In drive control period during elevation, it says robot should touch elevation bar but can’t touch perimeter.

To be more clear - you are specifically asking if touching the perimeter while touching the elevation bar at the end of the autonomous period will mean that you do not qualify for getting the autonomous win point, even if the other requirements are met? Further, your concern is that touching the field perimeter at this specific time for the AWP determination might fall under ‘SC7 d Not violated any other rules’ because the definition of elevated refers to not touching the field perimeter?

In this specific case, the requirement for getting the AWP of ‘contacting their own Elevation Bar’ does NOT specify that the robot must be considered elevated (and SC2 specifically says no elevation tier points are included for the autonomous bonus). Therefore, the definition of elevated shouldn’t be relevant here (also, that definition doesn’t say you aren’t allowed to touch the perimeter - it says that you aren’t considered elevated if you are touching the perimeter).

Can someone with ‘in action’ experience regarding the scoring of the AWP please chime in to verify / discuss?

To gain the autonomous win point, you must contact the elevation bar specifically, as stated in Rule <SC7>

The definition of Elevation Bar is as such:

In drive control period during elevation, it says robot should touch elevation bar but can’t touch perimeter.

That would be correct for elevation, but the autonomous win point does not require elevation, it requires you to contact the elevation bar, as stated above.
