Can we use leftover license plates as build materials?

Are license plates (leftover from previous competitions) legal to be used as build material? I.e. can we use the old ones as anything but license plates?

I think there was something in the Crossover rules that said license plates could not serve any functional purpose on the robot, so I doubt that will change, but who knows?

For the upcoming season in RingMaster, you can’t use License Plates for anything functional. In the manual, you’ll find the following under <R3> on page 12:

The VEX IQ Challenge License Plates are considered a non-functional decoration, and cannot be used as a functional part of the Robot.
