Cap Descoring: Linear Slide vs Arm

Dear all,

So thinking about cap descoring is it more efficient to have a linear slide that just goes upwards and hits the cap thus descoring it
OR
an arm that basically swings up and descores the cap? (VIDEO → Go to 1:10 to see 574C Turning Point Fall Reveal - YouTube)

PROS OF ARM

  • Less issue in trying to accurately descore the cap it quickly swings and slaps it off the pole
    CONS of ARM
  • Takes lots of space

PROS of LINEAR SLIDE

  • Very little space used just vertical space (will obviously be made sure that it is within the 18x18x18 limit)
    CONS of LINEAR SLIDE
  • Because its attached to like one section of my robot I have to like park the robot directly under and kind of pop the cap out of the pole and hope it doesnt fall on my robot or anything… needs a bit more precision and is a bit more time consuming

What do you guys think? I just listed the pros and cons because that’s my way of thinking for this situation…

well there’s the issue of having to descored them into the field, it’s a bit harder with a linear slide

Well, it’s up to you. The game is all about speed, so I would lean towards the arm. I’m just sticking mine out to the side, over my wheels. I should have space.
