Hello,
I am in need of some help with my catapult. My catapult is pretty inconsistent and I was wondering if anyone could help me. The spread between my discs is pretty big and I was wondering how you achieve a smaller spread between discs and more of an arch rather than the discs being launched quickly at the goal and only going in about 50% of the time. Here is a video of my catapult: 14895B Catapult - Google Drive.
It looks to me as if the discs are turning. This could be due to asymmetrical tension on the rubber bands or an asymmetrical catapult design. I’d recommend checking the tensioning to make sure it’s the same on both sides or if you only have 1 tensioner that it is placed in the center of your catapult. I’d also recommend that you make sure the catapult head itself is symmetrical so that the discs all launch evenly.
Ok, thank you! Do you use a catapult?
The problem is with your disc grouping, which you can fix buy adjusting where your hardstop is or tuning your tension.
So I don’t have to adjust how tall the catapult is or how long the cata arm is?
Your hardstop is the bar or c channel that your catapult hits to stop it from going further. You might to experiment having your hardstop a little bit higher or lower
My team had the same problem with the discs not staying together but this mechanism solved the problem and now the discs stay together. 99999P Our Mingo Mech Iteration - Vex Spin Up - YouTube
I tried it and it made my discs shoot straight up, do you have the same disc bed design?
My team has gone through a lot of designs kand i can help you with any problems if you could send a closer picture of the catapult?
I agree with 1908A, I think the disks aren’t flat when launched, causing the disks to separate. Looking at the video, I think the platform you are launching the disks from isn’t flat, at the end of the video the platform looks skewed, with the lower side facing right. I would also add some more rubber bands to tension your catapult, since it doesn’t look like you have enough power to shoot 3 disks since the 3rd one couldn’t make it over the high goal barrier.
