The chain bar design for a lift (something like this: ) is actually (what’s the word?)… very consistent and simple. In my free time, I thought, what if you didn’t have an elevator lift like the one in the video. It’ll just be a chain bar. However, as I thought, I began to notice the lift will be short because you need to position the chain bar to reach the ground to grab cones and to hover over the mogo to drop cones. I was thinking, if you don’t have enough time to build an elevator lift or you just don’t like elevator lifts, then couldn’t you add a simple four-bar and put a long chain bar on the top so that you get some extra height. I’m sure actually controlling this lift will be a pain, but maybe some programming magic (auto stacking for example) can fix that. This design isn’t supposed to be a very competitive robot (for that just do a dr4b with a chain bar), but it’s supposed to be very simple (like the most bang for your buck). I don’t know if it’s too simple or too impractical. I just want some feedback so that I can critique this design and see if it can actually be viable (for at least qualifying for states).
