intakes might need to be really tight on those balls I guess.
Or else you could just push them out a bit
Canât say, but I can tell you that it takes some significant force and a firm grip with 2 hands to get the ball out straight forward.
Sideways itâs likely impossible for an intake or even a grapple⌠I question if a robot has enough traction to remove a ball out the side.
This may turn out to be a non-event, but my experience says no. The students that build clawbots wonât stand a chance of removing a ball.
And the center score zone has zero clearance on the sides of the ball. You will have to push it out the opposite side. The ball has .37" more vertical spacing, but it scrubs the sides of the pipes.
Sorry, should have been more detailed. Donât think a typical clawbot can remove a ball while itâs in the claw so it can be quickly scored.
Nice catch about the ball clearance. I would not have noticed that
This was known after the field build instructions were leaked during the livestream. It was assumed then (and known now) that the goals have suitable flex to descore balls.
It is not that bad, the robots in the Ri3d like 742a show that rollers can somewhat easily descore balls from the goal, but for some reason due to testing angled rollers apparently cant descore at all
Vex isnât exactly known for being realistic in the game unveil vids.
Edit: go to 0:46 if it doesnât automatically jump there.
Ah. True that. Although this scenario seems more realistic than a clawbot lifting a 3 lb. mobile goal
I took a photo of the intended clearance(by measuring the height of the ball compared to the height off the piece separating the lower and upper rings and it shows that their is supposed to be negative clearance, if only slightly.
yes, there is. the issue is, the goals can sag downwards so that the rings are properly spaced on the back of the goal, but on the front where it matters, the rings could be below tolerance, making descoring more difficult than intended.
In addition, the middle tower, the tower that has a slightly large opening than the others, is actually meant have a small clearance for the ball to pass through with little to no effort.
