Change-up liftbot? any ideas?

Does any one have a idea for what to do for a lift bot in change-up??? Need help and ideas.
PS. My chassis is already done just need help with arm.

If you want robot ideas it might be a helpful thing to use the search bar as many robot reveals have been posted. But If you hare having a specific problem with your robot some pictures and a detailed description might be helpful.

What exactly do you mean lift bot? Do you mean a robot that lifts other robots with extreme torque (as I see NBN as the category), or do you mean DR4B’s, linear slides, and other mechanisms that can raise up fast with minimal torque.

I would not recommend a lift this year. I said it from the start and I’ll continue saying it now

lift bad

a hoodbot is better than a lift, but if you do want to make a lift I would suggest a tray on a 4 bar.

Look at tower takeover slides and learn to make a DR4B here:

If you want a team that has done exactly what I’m saying check here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulsw9Kp4YII&t=40s

Lul that’s what you think…

bad-of poor quality or a low standard.
That is a fillatious description of all tray designs, likely derived from a negative stereotype based on teams who have revealed lifts this season, or discussed the concept of lifts.

But yeah, GENERALLY AND IN MOST CASES, lift bad lol

lift will not win worlds

lift bad

Thanks so much for the help!

Those are 2 independents statements.

99.9% of people on vf and discord will not win worlds. Saying they are bad is a false statement.

Lift will make worlds, but will not win. So I guess lift bad at winning worlds. You right there.

you are silly. bad is subjective, while false insinuates it is something that can be proven or disproven. but fine I’ll play ur game lul

a lift is plenty good enough to get to worlds, and is definitely not bad. its just that a hood is always going to be better due to the nature of the design. A good lift will still beat a mediocre hood, but if you really want to have the fastest robot, a hood is the way to go.

lift is objectively inferior to the snail design for a number of reasons that I believe I’ve already argued with you about before, including but not limited to power inefficiencies (takes more torque to lift the lift+the ball than to roll just the ball, lifts can’t intake your own color while scoring, etc etc etc

getting to worlds =! good

Well, not if the lift was heavily carried or is the only team in their region…

a lift can be good. I agree that a lift is inferior, but not enough to make it completely non-viable, especially early season. a lift is much easier to get good cycle times with than a hood for newer teams, so for a beginner team in a low competitive region, a lift can definitely dominate all the jank hoods that will probably be out there. but yes, worlds (if there is a worlds) will not be won by a lift.

That’s a fine opinion to have. What I am stating is that telling people in vf that lifts are bad is not good advice. For a lot of people they are not bad. I’m sure you would agree that for a large amount of teams, building a quality tray lift would be quite a success. Telling them it is bad can be quite misleading, so I am trying to let people know that it is not an unviable alternative choice for teams looking for simpler designs. I understand you are not in that category teams, but I’d ask you to refrain from making broad statements that don’t apply to everyone, that may confuse some teams looking for a simple and somewhat competitive design that’s a step up from clawbots

See this is another example. For a lot of teams getting to worlds IS good. And a tray can get them there. So stating blatantly that trays are bad is misleading to many people. If you want to say they are not as good as hoods, or bad at winning worlds, that is fine. But just letting you know saying “lift bad” is not contributing to the vf and does not help new teams looking to experienced members for help
