China Loading Rules

How do you guys deal with the rules for loading when doing the China loading method aka driving into the loading station. I have seen the different parameters the ref had in different tournaments, which is kind of unfair. Do you guys have a way to prevent from DQ? Any improvements on the China Loading you guys plan to implement? Fell free to tell the parameters your tournament had on China Loading.

Most teams use a distance sensor to tell when the ball passes. As soon as the ball is released in can drive into the loading station so they have a distance sensor at the top of their bot

We finally got our bot working however were wondering what ratio you use on your drivetrain. We use 1.5 to 1 and it just seems to be a little bit to slow. Is this something we can fix with tuning or do we just need a faster drivetrain.

Did you end up using a distance sensor? If so, are you detecting a medium object or are you using a distance measure to trigger the load sequence? We’re having problems isolating the ball release from all other movements (loader movement including receiving the ball from the person who is throwing them…)

We had 1.5:1 for nationals and it was kind of slow, we were 6 points of skills champ. It would be useful to have a differential and fast drivetrain. We plan to do 2.5:1 for worlds.
