Hi guys,
Today is a short period, homecoming, and a rally day - do you have any fun games/activities you can recommend for clawbots/speedbots at a high school level?
If you have any of one specific type of object, you could select “teams,” and see who can collect the most of on object into a box or bucket at one end of the room.
A lot of activities depend on exactly what you have available to you. You could give clawbots a marker, and see who can write something (like thier name) the most clearly using the robot.
you can let the high schoolers turn the claw bots into battlebots for 30 minutes, and then let them battle each other.
Team building challenges, utilizing clawbots (i.e. two clawbots attempt to move chair together). Otherwise, just driving around and random crap is alway fun. If you guys have one, a speaker is pretty fun to mess around with but I don’t know how much time you’ll actually have to be able to play music and stuff on it.
I mean, clawbots arent super fun to fight against each other, they just sort of…you know…bounce off…
One thing you could do is put bumper switches on the backs and program them to stop when pressed and start when pressed again and play freeze tag, or just not allow unfreezing and play last bot standing.
We did sumobot and soccer once in class
See which one can last the longest without overheating the motors.
I was half joking but in 30 minutes you could probably turn the claw bot arms into slip gear catapult arms and maybe even make the arms have a compound gear ratio
You can do any of the activities in the Play and Rethink sections of the STEM Labs at education.vex.com
The EDR STEM Labs are for V5, but even if you are using Cortex robot, they activities can be easily adapted.
