Hi - our team’s robot uses 4 color sensors. Over the past week (since upgrading to the latest version of Robot C - we have had two color sensors stop functioning. The update software, robot C and the robot brain (under settings/devices) all fail to recognize that they are even plugged in. We are in total crunch week leading up to Worlds and we are dead in the water right now. Is there anything I can do?
Hi jasonkiefer,
We’re sorry that you are having this problem. The first step to resolve this problem is to see if the Color Sensor can have it’s firmware manually updated by the Firmware Update Utility. To do this, please disconnect all other motors and sensors from your Robot Brain, and connect one of the questionable Color Sensors to Port 1. When there is only one device connected to the Robot Brain and it’s on port 1, the Robot Brain tries to force the sensor to be present. If the Root Brain recognizes the Color Sensor on Port 1, you can use the Firmware Update Utility to reinstall the Color Sensor firmware.
If the above process did not resolve your problem or if you have any other comments, then please immediately contact our technical support folks at support@vex.com or by calling +1-903-453-0802, so we can work to resolve this issue before VEX Worlds. VEX Robotics technical support staff will also be present at VEX Worlds to provide additional assistance at the event.
