Competitive Regions

I was wondering what are the most competitive regions? And how competitive do you think your region is? I’ll go first I think my region(Oklahoma) is one of the least competitive regions in V5RC for both middle and high school, sure you have teams like 1239E Flashbang and 9545X Wreckin’ Crew but many teams that do good in state usually don’t fare well at worlds, Even a 2 motor hero bot could win a tournament

I think Hawaii is down there too but we do have 42700X & E which were world finalists and champions for the JROTC World championship.

There have already been maby topics on this subject. Please use the search bar before posting.

I am well aware of this but those topics are outdated such as the one dated to 2015 and the other one is just the best regions not the most competitive

Indiana is still one of te best regions. A few of the best teams retired (323V and 99904B to name a few) but there are some new teams that may become pretty good.

Are the best regions not also the most competitive?

Southern California (CA region 4) and Northern California (CA region 2) are both very competitive regions.

21417A too. (I believe)

Indiana will be different without them. But there are some good teams arising from 6842, 6210, and other large orgs. This year’s state championship will surely be interesting.

Not necessarily because best regions could mean many things like I personally think Oklahoma one of the best regions( partially because I compete in it) But I definitely don’t think that it’s the most competitive

The word “best” could be used in different ways, including: best strategies, best designs, and best sportsmanship.

Colorado is a very competitive region, robots that win state do very well at worlds. Our sister team’s robot from 2 years ago was called the “Six-Fingered Death Punch”
(for its outstanding expansion system capable of reaching every tile on the field) and some teams already knew it just by the name.

flashbang finally mentioned online no way haha. what’s your team number?

Taking a good look at things this year in Oklahoma, however, I believe Oklahoma is starting to evolve more to a mid-ground in competitive level. I don’t want to toot my own horn or anything but before we (representing Flashbang) entered the region Oklahoma was a very low level of competition. I don’t want to claim full responsibility for it but I do believe our showcase of something never done before in the region to my knowledge (a privately organized team taking full benefit of the VEX robotics program and really pushing for the best) is what has propelled and will continue to propel Oklahoma to a higher standard of competition.

65292E, Saw your skills run it was awesome. I def hope to see you guys again this year , you guys are an awesome team and are really paving the way on making Oklahoma a competitive region. I definitely agree that you will continue to propel Oklahoma to a higher standard. Good Luck at Haunted and Speedway! Proud to have a team like flashbang representing Oklahoma at these higher level tournaments. Hope one day we can be on the same level as you(Just got new teammates they seem promising but we’ll see) but only time will tell.

I promise we’re not scary and don’t bite most of the time. You only gotta worry about the notebooker because you don’t know when he’ll snap (joking of course). But come talk to us! One of our favorite parts of competition is simply meeting some new friends and if you want to reach or surpass the apparent skill ceiling we can give you some tips that really helped us.

Not only could that help you but it helps the teams around you get better and like you said, not flop at worlds. In the end all it takes to get better is true determination across a team as well as knowing where to look for knowledge. Don’t let “being an Oklahoma team” stop you from striving for the best.

Ha! Thanks for the words of encouragement! I’ll definitely come and talk to you guys at a tournament, and I’ll definitely take up the offer to learn some tips from you guys, I’ll definitely make sure being an Oklahoma team won’t stop me from being my best. Thanks, team 65292E.
Good luck at Haunted and Speedway

99904B did not retire, if that’s what you meant by it. They are probably winning state again lmao

I think their team info said inactive when I last checked (@Excalibur is correct, they are still active)

Most likely are they are a goated team

our team’s in IQ but Northern California is a very competitive region with TONS of great teams especially 95133 Magikid teams

I think from the experience of being in the region 6210 is a little overrated and probably won’t improve but 7701 I think they will. 6210 usually gets out good early season and then falls off more towards mid-season and late. And you can’t forget 91976A
