Considering a Complete Rebuild

Sadly, I have great experience with complete rebuilds. The first thing you need to do is get a good, working chassis together. Salvage whatever you can from the old robot (for us, it was our linear puncher), and put it on the new one.

As the kid who rebuilds after every comp, I can confirm this is the best method to complete rebuilds

If you have enough pieces you could have one person trying to fix that robot while everyone else builds a second robot that focuses on one thing, such as caps (takes less fine tuning than a ball shooter).

Just a comment on your dr4b if you ever decide to rebuild it I would put the motors on the middle section, and use screw joints when you can.

It is difficult because dr4b’s are the trickiest mechanisms in vex. They require a lot of tuning and support structure to make one even halfway decent. I would trust myself to build an entire flywheel robot in a day (~12 hours) but would be nervous about a rd4b cap robot.

After building around 2 flywheels I would agree that you could make a flywheel in a day

you can build a decent drive in 2-3 hours, a puncher takes about 2 hours to perfect and intake probably takes about 2 hours. You can build a good shooter bot in about a day. for me personally, I could build a full shooter bot before I could get a dr4b done. A full rebuild is recommended.
