This happens when your current draw is too high and the voltage drops low enough that the computer resets. The only way I know of to prevent this is to decrease your instantaneous power use. The new power extender is specifically designed to prevent this sort of occurrence, and like a lot of folks I’m anxiously waiting for it. It hasn’t started shipping yet.
As you know, a low battery can exacerbate this issue.
