Cortex and Sound

I have a Vex Arm Cortex. I would like to plug speakers into an SP port. I tried using 3 Watt 8 Ohm set of speakers and they were really quiet (meaning I could barely hear the sound when I held it up to my ear). Would a 5 Watt 8 Ohm or 4 Ohm 3 Watt speaker work better? Something else completely?

The original VEX speaker module had an internal amplifier, not sure you will get anything to work that’s not amplified.
