Cortex Autonomous Download HELP

So we have been working on our Autonomous program and have been successful in downloading it into the Cortex micro-controller module but have had troubles in initializing the program through the Competition Switch Simulator.

We downloaded the program onto to our robot using the A-A cable from the computer to the Cortex module. The when we tried to test the Autonomous program through the Simulator it wouldn’t move.

We tried also linking the joystick and the Cortex with the A-A cable and the orange cable to the computer and on the back of the joystick to download but it wouldn’t even let us download a program into the robot.

When we were able to download the program into the robot using the A-A cable we took the cables out and replaced them with the keys and placed the orange cable into the joystick and the computer. This would still not let us initialize the Autonomous through the Competition Switch Simulator.

Thanks for your time! We REALLY need your help!

By the way, if it means anything we have also tried to program an Optical Shaft Encoder into the Autonomous for the first time. Could this affect our Autonomous from initializing if it is wrong?

The things that I know of that could cause this are:

  1. the programming cable has issues, such as the plastic clip is broken
  2. the Prolific Driver to use the USB-to-Serial adapter is not installed
  3. if you are using Robotc there is aplace in the menu where you tell it which cable you are using (Robot/Vex Cortex Download Method/)
  4. the serial port is not set for the Prolific Driver (view/Preferences/Detailed Preferences/Platform Tab/Communications port)

If you are using EasyC perhaps someone else can help.

We are using EasyC for Cortex and we have tried switching around the wires and calling Intelitek but we haven’t been successful in initiating our Autonomous program in the Competition template through the Competition Switch Simulator. All we need to know is the specifics for getting autonomous working. PLEASE HELP! Our competition is this weekend!!

You have to use the USB-To-Serial Programming cable connected to the Joystick to use the competition switch simulator.

I just checked the help file and noticed we don’t mention that. I will get them to update the help file for the future.

If you can’t program tethered then you probably aren’t running the current version of joystick mastercode 2.3.
