Cortex - Bad Motor Channels

We have five (out of 18) Cortex with bad motor channels this year. Six of the units are two seasons old and the others were purchased for NBN. It isn’t half of the bank (1-5 or 6-10) - it is just single channels.

We have tried flashing the units with the latest firmware. One of our students mentioned that he had heard of channels going bad when motors are manually run (IE: someone collapses an arm) and it backfeeds power into the Cortex.

Any suggestion? Best practices? Options to repair?

It happens… We have a few like that ie: port 2 is bad but all of the others are fine. We’ve found its from wear and tear and I have never heard that manually running the motor puts enough power back into the cortex to do any damage but I may be wrong on that. I think @jpearman may be able to give you some better answers here.

The same thing happened to one of our cortex’s last year. You’re able to send the cortex in to get it repaired if you want to. I’m not sure if we had to pay for shipping/the repairs or not…
