I have been seeing some posts (on both the VEX and ROBOTC forums) very recently about motors that wouldn’t run or or only semi run in one direction (mostly for the 2-wire motors), motors that hum or buzz when there is no program running or they are given a power level of zero, and the two wire ports on the cortex starting to smoke. We recently experienced all of these problems.
I’m guessing that they have something to do with the master firmware. This post certainly seems to indicate that: https://vexforum.com/t/answered-poor-zero-on-two-wire-motors/18605/1. Does anybody know what is going on? We just saw a two wire port go up in smoke, and we don’t want to risk damaging the cortex further. If it is indeed the firmware, when will a newer version be released, and which version is safe to use meanwhile?
EDIT: Never mind, this post:https://vexforum.com/t/important-note-about-using-robotc-with-the-cortex-microcontroller/17510/1
cleared things up. Thanks for your help.
