Cortex isn't recognised by the computer

Hi,

We are new to building VEX robots and have hit a massive problem trying to download the firmware to the cortex. When I plug the cortex into the computer it is recongised (pops up in the drivers windows and says it is running correctly) but when we go to update the firmware it says that ‘there is no communication link to the vex drive’. The lights on the cortex are flashing as soon as it is plugged into the computer.

Anyone have any ideas how to get it to respond? My team of girls have spend ages building the robot and plugging in all the motors etc but are devastated having spend 3 hours trying to get it working and now we are very stuck!

Thanks

Are you using the driver from Firmware - Products - Cortex - VEX Robotics ?

You have to update it using the utility first or else RobotC’s firmware update won’t recognize the Cortex and Joystick.

If you have been using that utility, then try re-downloading it and restarting your computer. Restarting the computer usually helps out with those problems for us.
