When we turn on the cortex, all the LEDs flash orange and green. When we try to connect a joystick using direct usb connection, every light on the cortex turn off, except for the vexnet light, which flashes red. What can we do to fix this problem?
First, check with this flowchart; according to your report it does not seem to exactly match your situation, but I would:
I have already checked that flowchart, and it does not seem to have my problem on it :(. Is there anything else that could be wrong with the cortex itself?
there could be soothing wrong with the USB port, however i extremely doubt it, however do check it but if theres nothing extremely wrong with it, pass on it as an opportunity, however maybe something about the wifi in the building your in? ive heard of it happening, however its another long shot.
EDIT thats apparently why theres no wifi at worlds
Well the only problem is that i cant test our program because the robot does not work. Should resetting the cortex be a last resort?
Have you tried turning it off and on again (being semi serious)
You need to make sure you have the newest version of whatever software you are righting code through. Go to their website and find the newest version and check it against yours. After doing so, try a firmware update. If the remote and the cortex aren’t using current firmware they will not connect.
I had trouble with this too for a while. Just have to plug the USB in over and over again for some really odd reason. XD
Well the cortex if I’m referring to the right one (4.x, distinct feature such as 10 motor ports, and a USB connect port). You first have to connect the controller to the cortex to let it recognize each other, then you need to connect a VEXNET 2.0 (2.0 is the one we’re using) key (A pair) to both the VEXnet Controller and the cortex. A common mistake is using the wrong controller. There are 2 type: A Vexnet Controller and a Partner Controller.
Yea this sounds like you have two different firmware versions on your controller and your cortex. I know its weird, but its an easy problem to fix.
