Could someone please explain this

Hi could some9ne explain this please i am classified as a middle school team so is it harder to get to worlds thanks

Please note: as this is a blended event if a Middle School team wins Tournament Champion they will NOT automatically be eligible for a Vex World Championship spot. There is an Excellence Award for Middle School. The team winning overall Middle School Excellence will qualify for a spot at World Champs.

Read the Qualifying Criteria document that is posted on every event page.

Depending on the size of the event, various judged and performance awards will advance a team to the next level.

Since you do not specify which event you are curious about, it will difficult for anyone to give a real answer.

In general, if Tournament Champions qualifies for the next level, then it does not matter if one or both are Middle School, the alliance teams will both advance.

I hope this helps clarify a little.

Your region has a limited number of MS slots for worlds. Excellence is a combination of qualifications, skills, and notebook. You region is sending their best overall robot and team to Worlds.

If I were your coach, I would push your team to get your notebook in top shape, practice pit interviews and get the programming team to buff the auto routines to max scores, while the drive team gets drivers skills runs looking like a well choreographed dance on the mat scoring max points.

You know the prize, you just need to go get it.

It means if you win excellence, you qualify for worlds. If you win tournament champion, you don’t

i want to follow the thread if you don’t mind

Assuming that you mean relative to a high school team, the answer is a solid maybe. Many things will affect your chances to qualify for worlds, this includes the game itself, your team composition, how competitive your region is, the robot you build, what method you hope to qualify with, judges, refs, additional unforeseen circumstances, and yes, your grade may have an impact. Now, I would argue the biggest thing that will alter your chances is actually how stiff your competition is. (That’s why I bolded it) For example, I live in West MI, and we are home to many outstanding programs, battles for qualification are very fierce here.
Also, are you saying that your state/regional tournament is blended? I’ve never heard of such a thing. high schoolers can’t take middle school qualification spots if that’s what you’re wondering.
I understand it may be frustrating if it is indeed true that the high school teams have it easier, but I think it would be healthier to focus on your own division. If qualification is difficult, it’s equally difficult for all middle school teams. Rise to the challenge!

Aren’t states and sig events the only place to qualify for worlds? I didn’t think that there are blended events in either of those?

Thanks everyone yes it is a blended event sadly. So in orser to win we have to win notebook and have to win tournament champion we carnt juat win tournament champion 2023/24 New Zealand VRC Middle and High School National Championships: Over Under : NZ Middle School and High School VEX Over Under Nationals 2023/24 Season : Robot Events

As it shows in the Awards Section on the Robotevents page, there will be both a High School and a Middle School Excellence Award Winner and from New Zealand those are the only two that will qualify for Worlds. So I would say it is equally as hard for a High School Team to qualify for Worlds as it is a Middle School Team. It is important to note that the Middle School Excellence Award winner will only be judged for that award in comparison to the other Middle School teams at the event. So Middle School teams, at least for the Excellence Award, are not being judged relative to the High School Teams.

The OP is from New Zealand. due to the small number of teams in the country, they do run their National Championship as a blended event and only the High School Excellence Award winner and the Middle School Excellence Award winner qualify for Worlds.
