As the proud owner of three sets of Crossover game elements, any chance some of the parts will be legal for 2017-18? I’m good with Hexballs being not allowed (but a rotating hexball used for weight on the back of the robot would have crowd approval, and hey they do come apart), how about the orange and blue sticks? And my favorite part the new 96x96 plate? It’s a cool element as a chassis base for new robots. A little shrink wrap, part number and they fly off the shelves… Getting stuck with old stock is never good from a business standpoint.
I thought I saw the answer before but I can’t find it. I believe it was ruled that if it has the IQ hole pattern it will be legal.
The parts that make up the goal, walls and bridge are VEX IQ parts, and would be legal for robots in the future.
I actually think the balls would be legal, but I’m not 100% sure on that.

In rule <R6> letter B it specifies that game elements are not allowed for construction of a robot. Based off this the hexballs do not seem legal for use in construction. The rest of the field since it is built from normal construction parts they seem to be legal to be mixed into your build materials.
<R6. b> ". Only the VEX IQ components specifically designed for use in Robot construction are allowed. Using additional components outside their typical purpose is against the intent of the rule (i.e. please don’t try using VEX IQ apparel, team or event support materials, packaging, field elements or other non-robot products on a VEX IQ Challenge Robot). "
Thanks. I was / am hung up on if they are considered part of a field element. I can ask in the Q&A in a few weeks to make sure.
I would like to use the triangular base pieces to the Ringmaster posts. Those would make for fabulous construction options, but they’re not sold other than in the Ringmaster field components. So… no dice?
Those triangles are legal robot pieces.

There are lots of stuff that’s not sold separately like all the Hexbug parts. My roboteers loved the squares this year.
They should post the list soon. My question is will the yellow “score” plates make the cut?
I’ll guess there are some Ringmaster kits hanging out in the warehouse if you want more triangles.
