Cube Lock: Passive/Motorized/Pneumatic

I have already encountered the secrecy surrounding the cube lock on many robots. I have found enough information to build a Pneumatic and Motorized cube lock but I feel like I still need a push in the right direction.
Any information would really be helpful!
Thanks!

the best option is obviously a passive lock. this topic has a few good examples of locks:

Would you think a Motorized Cube lock might work as well though as it seems like a very simple option.

sure, it’s probably work slightly better, but it isn’t worth the motor

Well we have a extra motor soooooo

Thanks by the way also!

it could be to a team that is getting a 1M tilter and isnt able to pull off 1M arms

If they don’t have arms, then they have no need for a cube lock…

I would use the motor for the base or a way to get high tower (assuming you have complex tray). Don’t waste the motor, it can give you a bigger advantage elsewhere. I have linked two videos of passive designs. (Note: These are not mine)

Unpopular opinion time! Passive designs, although seeming to be complex at first, are actually quite simple and more often than not work better than their motorized counter parts!

Would you like advice or tips on how to build a passive one or is your heart set on a motorized one?

Passive is best, and it’s easy to make.
