Custom linear slides from standoffs

I recently built a linear slide from high strength bearings and standoffs, if anyone has ever heard of this or done it, I was wondering how to keep the standoffs from twisting, making it impossible to move up and down

We played with this method for a 3rd stage telescopic slider eventually switching to half-c channel rolling over a free spinning spacer. To avoid twisting, we doubled up the standoffs/bearings. With two in series, we didn’t have any issues with twisting or added friction. The half bar method just ended up being more compact.
