There has always been interest in making custom license plates but what about making a custom team pit sign with its own holder. Teams decorate their pits and bring balloon numbers but it would be cool if they had their own signs.
As an EP, I am always printing hundreds of these things each season only to be thrown away at the end of a tournament. If each team had their own they could customize it, 3D print a sign holder, laminate it, and add their own flair to show their creativity. Almost no limit.

This is actually a really good idea

As an EP, we have different PIT areas, some are table top per team, some are in groups of four teams. So whatever solution you come up with, it has to be nimble. Typically, for qualifying events up to 48 teams, they are all in our small gym, we designed a drop down banner along the walls for pits group of four teams, see below. The bonus is the Team signs are above the groups of teams and not likely knocked down by student leaning into drop banner. We have thought about having space reserved for teams to express themselves, and if they do not wish to, then use V5RC signage. We could experiment with this if teams on this forum can suggest how we can adjust signage and make it consistent for judges to find teams for interviews. Ideas???

I used the high stakes ladder as a display stand this season. For smaller tournaments with enough space, I could set up two sides of the ladder as a “V” shaped angled display sticking out at the front of a pit table. This gave two sides to hang banners with photographs of our seniors on. Was a very popular idea at the state qualifier and let us hang up banners when the pit wasn’t against a wall.

Custom event rules about size of this custom sign could be introduced, with a criteria similar to how licence plates were where the team number name and organisation must be clearly displayed or event staff will ask you to take it down and swap back to the original normal sign (this isn’t the best method tho might work)
