Cutting Shafts

We cut our shafts with bolt cutters this season however this left one end blunt. We then tried using a Dremel but ran into the same issue. Was wondering how others did it.

Get a fine tooth hacksaw (24 or 32 teeth per inch) and a file. A little Vise for holding the shaft helps too

We find bolt cutters easier than hacksaw, but then you have to file the burr.

Alright thank yall a ton really appreciate the help

either boltcutters or the Ryobi handheld bandsaw work great.

Simple hand file for the win. You can cut it with anything and file it smooth.

This being an IQ question… unless things changed… didn’t think cutting shafts was allowed???

That said, we use a bandsaw and benchtop belt sander. The sanding is the critical part of that process.

It’s sort of an investment, but it’s versatile and FAST for sanding:
shafts
cut metal
plastics
etc
