Cutting the metal plates

Any suggestions on what tools to buy to cut the steel plates. I used metal clippers and it worked ok. If I use that I need to smooth out the edges so any suggestions on the best way to do that?

Make sure to look online too if you want resources from there, especially from YouTube.

One tool you could use to cut small parts is a dremel. It has many different configurations that you can use.

To smoothen out the edges, using something as simple as a handheld file would work. Something strong enough to not break itself while being able to soften the metal.

Sandpaper would probably do the trick for smoothing. Dremels (with sanding/cutting bits) also work pretty well.

My team uses metal files to smooth out the edges, but we use a hacksaw to cut the metal, which makes the cut smoother than metal cutters would.

I usually just use a nail file to smooth edges. It works well and doesn’t really take that long.

I would use a Dremel if I were you.

If you can afford a horizontal desktop bandsaw for about $200 it makes cutting metal super easy and a lot safer.
