DC Motor Control

Does anyone know of any cheaper DC motor controller than the one VEX has?

im not quite sure but i know vex motors have actually been complimented for the amount of features at a very good price

I am not talking about the actual motors, I am talking about the product at the bottom of this page. I need it for other uses. Though I do love VEX’s motors

Define cheap, and how big/small are the motors?

I’ve had a lot of luck with the Syren product line from Dimension Engineering.

For larger motors I really like RoboteQ.

Both work fine with Vex.

Well, I just want to find a something that converts PWM to a varying DC voltage. I do not want to use it for motor, I want to use it for other things. I think that $10 (US) is a little expensive for just one of these, I was hopeing that someone knows where to buy one for under $10 (US) or build one for even cheaper.

If you just want to drive a relay or run something at 5v you can try this.

You do not need a motor controller, instead you can use 1 I/O port.

This is not my drawing but here it is!

A somewhat updated version is posted over in the gallery

I plan to use the SN754410 IC in the design of my Vexplorer Autonomous Controller, which I purchased at Acroname (www.acroname.com) ($5 each or 3 ICs for $12). The SN754410 is a quadruple high-current half-H driver designed to provide bidirectional drive currents up to 1A at voltages from 4.5V to 36V.

The device is designed to drive inductive loads such as relays, solenoids, DC and bipolar stepping motors, as well as other high-current/high-voltage loads in positive-supply applications. You can find more information including its data sheet at the following location:
