I am seeing some robots that are using lexan on the loading tray (for the cubes). on this Lexan there have been some decoration, on the face that “could” touch the cube. So, being on this particular face, could that be functional, since the cubes “could” touch the cubes.
Just curious as how other teams are interpreting this. thanks
Since the decorations are backed by lexan that is within the size limit i believe that it should be legal for the decals to be on the robots. If taking those decals off would make no effect to the trays I don’t see any reason to not allow them.
I mean, if it’s just a little bit of contact, then I think it would be okay. However, if they sticker bombed the WHOLE piece of plastic, then that would be a bit sketchy.
Thanks, Yeah I just found this, should been more diligent!!!
Decorations are allowed. Teams may add non-functional decorations, provided that they do not affect Robot performance in any significant way or affect the outcome of the Match. These decorations must be in the spirit of the competition. Inspectors will have final say in what is considered “non-functional”. Unless otherwise specified below, non-functional decorations are governed by all standard Robot rules. In order to be “non-functional,” any guards, decals, or other decorations must be backed by legal materials that provide the same functionality. For example, if your Robot has a giant decal that prevents Cubes from falling out of the Robot, the decal must be backed by VEX material that would also prevent the Cubes from falling out.
Here’s an idea… y don’t people just paint the lexan, FLIP IT, then place it on the robot so the cubes are on the lexan but u can still see the design
Edit: pecans and lexan are not the same
