Default Speed/torque

If you set the VexIQ drivetrain to be above 100% velocity, does it default back to 50% velocity? Our robot has been acting very slow, even though i put the turn and drivetrain velocity to 150%. Is it just a battery issue?

Usually when you set the speed of a motor to 150% It should turn it to 100% at least that is what it does for me but I am unsure how to fix you issue I’d recommend swapping the battery just in case because that is the only thing I can think of

If you have a 100% charged battery, this shouldn’t be a problem. I think the robots this season are bigger than the previous season so try changing up your gear ratio and see if that helps

Nice, I didn’t even think of that. That more than likely is the problem!

well i did do a gear ratio but unfortunately there isn’t enough torque (according to my teamates calculations) I have 2 motors awd with chain. The gear ratio right no is 24 to 16 though I want it to be 24 to 8 or even 16 to 8. I always have a fully charged batter so i don’t know.

Torque and speed are inversely proportional, meaning increasing the speed would decrease the available torque. Changing up the gear ratio can either increase the speed or torque, but modifying the gear ratio to increase the torque would decrease the speed of your drivetrain.

Are you sure that your drivetrain needs more torque and not speed? Even the heaviest IQ robots I’ve seen don’t have to increase the torque of their drivetrain to increase their velocity. You could experiment with different gear ratios to better understand how different gear ratios would change how your drivetrain performs through trial and error, then determine what is best for your team.
