Descoring in NBN

I’m not sure if i missed this, but are we allowed to descore scoring objects from the low goal or not??

You cannot break the plane of the goal, so if you can descore without doing that, then yes. [1]

Here is the rule:

  1. See SG12 (Thanks Silicon)

So, does that mean you can make a bot that can descore by grabbing balls from above?

You cannot reach into the goal by any mean, that means you can only touch balls that are hanging halfway out of the goal. This requires you building a lift to raise to that height, which is illegal per game rule. **You cannot reach into goals or rise above 18 inches. **

Therefore, no descoring.

<SG12> Robots may not remove any Scoring Objects from any Goal during the Match. Minor violations of this rule that do not affect the match will result in a warning. Egregious (match affecting)
offenses will result in a Disqualification. Teams that receive multiple warnings may also receive a Disqualification at the head referee’s discretion.

Even if you built a vacuum cleaner bot that could suck balls from the low goal it would be illegal.

That’s hilarious!!!

Thinking along the same lines. Let say you built a high power cannon to score from the base. Then you drive directly up to opponent’s net and score direct hit into their low goal full of balls. If you are lucky - it will blow few balls out of the goal. Will it still be legal?

I wonder how GDC rule finalization meeting goes… Do they vote on every crazy idea?

  • Allowing vacuum cleaner to descore? - No.

  • Allowing direct hits to descore? - Yes, if balls don’t leave the field.

  • Allowing anti-gravity devices? - Yes, as they could be classified as non-functioning decorations…

Wouldn’t that be the game element not in contact with the robot knocking the game element out? So technically not the robot…

Huh, I missed that rule apparently. Thanks for the clarification
