Did we do well

We (8512F) went 5-1-0 in Swiss Rounds and lost in the Elite Eight 66-62 as our first event. Our only loss, as a middle school team, was to Cerulean Blue (http://vrc-data-analysis.com/), along with the #1 seed 151T (AKA Basement Dwellers). Please give advice, it is really helpful.
Edit: Changed wording to seem more neutral, and added link for Cerulean Blue (#2 on ranking on 10/25). Thank you to everyone that responded.

Yeah I’d say you did well for your first event as a middle school team, but this seems like a rather odd way to flex.

As for advice, if you’re asking about etiquette I’d suggest rephrasing your post as less of a question post, to more of a celebration post. “We did x, y, and z and this is our first event and we only lost to the first seed, did we do well?” seems a lot more arrogant than “We did x, y, and z, and we are only lost to the first seed, we’re so happy!”

In terms of actual VRC advice, analyze each of your matches, figure out what went well and what didn’t (this will be good in an engineering notebook). Figure out what you did well in each match and take a note of it. If it worked those times, it might work again. What could you have improved on it? In the match you lost, what did you or your opponent do that made you lose/win? How might you adapt your future match play to avoid something like that happening?

Hope this helped! I would also advise that you phrase your question or statement a little better, so that people will be more willing to help, or so you’ll get a more positive response.

I can’t tell if this is a weird flex, or if you are generally unsure of wether or not you did well.

I’m writing a novel about VEX and looking for the type of underdog story you have to work into my book. could you give me a full recount of the event, as in-depth as possible, for me to use? Any tea would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. As someone who was there, yes, you did well. @AliA makes very good points on flexing and on takeaways from the event. As a further note, 6 QR matches is a bit short… I will try my best to provide 8 or more in my December event in your/our region. QR always has some randomness, and six matches in a small field can more easily result in “luck” . Not at all looking your way - I have no idea on that - but I do know one of my teams had favorable pairings… it just happens. (In this event, for example, six was just barely enough to sort the two best teams to the top.)

Worlds-quality team in a small, low-performing region. I would expect them to make a deep run in division eliminations at world this year. They probably should hit up signature events for the competition.

I can very much agree, we were also at the even, alliances with one of your teams, 8754B. We are the MS team from Region 3, I saw your guy’s robot, you did well, you can have many improvements, but it was a great start. I don’t remember if you got any awards, but I think you deserved the MS excellence award rather than us performance-wise, but I think we won it over with the book, interview, and skills. I think you guys can easily do these 3 things better and be the top MS team in Region 4. Good job!

Great.
Can’t wait for my team to meet up with them in worlds

Will get my scouts to keep an eye on them…

Thanks for the shout out… 8756 is a HS after-school team. I don’t blame you for thinking they might be middle schoolers based on robot build quality, lol. The B team is all 9th grade that never touched vex parts before 9 weeks ago - so they are doing fine considering.
