Hi!
Our team has been experiencing some issues when the robot is communicating using keys and when it is first turning on. When we turn the robot on it can take 5+ minutes for all of the lights on the cortex to turn green. Then when we are testing, the robot will randomly lose connection with the controller. We’ve tried different batteries and cycling the power… but is there anything else that we can try?
Also, a few of our motors are making a high pitched buzzing sound when the robot is at rest… is this normal? We were told that a little is okay, but ours seems excessive.
Have you tried updating your cortex, vexnets, controller?
That may be the problem.
For Robotc, you can go to the Robot tab at the top and go to the “Download Firmware” tab.
For Easyc, you can go to the tools tab and press “Upgrade Vexnet Firmware”.
Another reason may be that there is something wrong with your cortex.
A few days ago, our robot would randomly lose connection because the battery connector with the cortex was broken. This lead to the cortex losing power whenever our battery moved slightly.
Try unplugging your robot batteries when the robot is turned off, and as @spartanshl said update the firmware on everything. If your keys are the previous 1.0 keys change them to the updated 2.0 keys, cuz they have a better connection.
