We are experiencing a high rate of failure with the distance sensors… The sensors show on the device info screen …no distance… I switch to new sensors and it works again… however I cannot get the original sensor to work anymore… Are these sensors really delicate?/
Hi James,
We are sorry that you are having this problem. All of our Distance Sensors are individually factory calibrated and tested, however it is possible for the sensor to become damaged. Please avoid dropping the Distance Sensor on the floor or pressing on the metal grills of the sensor, as both of these can cause the Distance Sensor to report incorrect distance values.
To help try to resolve this problem, please disconnect all devices from your Robot Brain. Please connect the Distance Sensor in question to Port 1, then connect your Robot Brain to your computer and launch the VEX IQ Firmware Update Utility on your computer to reinstall the firmware on this sensor. If the Distance Sensor is already running the latest firmware, you can reinstall this firmware by going to the Update > Reinstall Current Version menu. After the firmware in the Distance Sensor has been updated/reinstalled, please go to the Device Info screen to verify if the sensor is working.
If reinstalling the firmware in your Distance Sensor does not solve this problem, or if you are having any other questions or comments, please contact our technical support folks at [email protected] or by calling +1-903-453-0802 so we can help resolve this issue.
Regards,
