Diy a push back field

how to diy a push back field?

Using the dimensions listed in the game manual, I was able to recreate the push back goal fairly accurately. It’s not super sturdy, but it’ll work well enough.

I bought the foam board at Dollar Tree, and you could use packing tape or duct tape to hold it together - any sturdy and sticky tape really. I used a utility knife to cut the foam board. I used a caliper to get more accurate measurements which you can find at a hardware store, or you can just use a ruler since it doesn’t need to be perfect. A yardstick or square ruler is helpful for getting the lines you cut along to be straight.

I don’t have a picture, but I remember making a cardboard goal for “toss up” in my team’s first year to practice scoring. Needless to say it did not survive the season and we had no $ for a field (but somehow made it to worlds back when CA was only 1 region)

Also, I would add a bottom part, which I added after taking the other 2 pictures. This allows you to add weight and make it more stable.

I’ve been testing my robot with some actual blocks, and I don’t think any block I would make could stand up to that for very long. Interesting challenge though!

imagine you accidentally ram into the goal…
is there anyone using pvc to make these?
also, is 3d print ball/cube/octagon/… a good choice?

I have rammed into the goal, good news is it’s not super rigid, so it kind of bends out of the way and springs back. Worst case scenario I cut out a replacement part, but that will probably happen eventually.

Also, 3d printing could work, but from what I’ve seen with other stuff I’ve printed and the scratches my blocks already have, it might eventually need to be reprinted.
