My brother and I (coaches for Clawson Middle School Robotics Team) wanted to get a purchase a tabletop mill for our program. Unfortunately, the cost of one was 700+ dollars- which we really didn’t want to spend. Hence, introducing our roughly 200 dollar, table top manual mill! Creating this with your team would be a great team building activity, and you end up building a very cool product in the end! We’ve tested cutting both steel C channel and gears thus far. Video to come shortly!
Please let us know if you have any questions! Thanks!
We have a regular hand drill, as well as a drill press. We really aren’t looking for a replacement for a hand drill, but more of a way to allow unexplored opportunities that a hand drill just does not meet.
For example, last season we had to cut our slip gear with a bandsaw. A mill would have allowed much more precise and detailed teeth removal. We see many opportunities which include cutting polycarbs, plastics, and metal.
