What’s inside the speaker module besides a speaker and a potentiometer? Is there an amplifier chip or something else in there as well? It’d be cool to make a DIY one.

We do not release internal details to the public. The VEX ARM® Cortex®-based Microcontroller web page lists the SP Output (Speaker) characteristics. An amplifier will be needed to drive a speaker from a 5k-ohm output.
