Does anyone else have this problem with the IQ boxes?

I assume everyone is familiar with the IQ boxes?

Am I the only one that feel like they fall apart way too quickly? Many of the latches have snapped off and you can’t carry them like a briefcase as they just fall open.
Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it?

I often have the same issues so I just used some other cases. But, I think gluing some better latches might work.

You can buy something like this https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-36-Compartment-Hand-Tool-Box-Interlocking-Small-Parts-Organizer-in-Black-2-Pack-THD2020-002/315003287 from Home Depot or harbor freight maybe Walmart anything like that for 5-10 dollars.

How about everyone else!

You might consider looking at the IQ storage tools on Robosource.net, the organizing trays will fit old IQ tubs, Harbor Freight tool chests, and the robosource storage system.

This document shows our workspace storage for vex team Virus, with IQ information started on about page six of the paper: Team VIRUS workspace 2023.pdf - Google Drive

I will second @kmmohn, everyone has these problems. For our club we bought Gen 2 kits last season for all of our teams, so that’s what they were issued last year, but this year we’re going back to the old bins, and re-purposing the blue bins for our spare/communal parts storage. I’m working on a 3D-printable modular divider system for them (which I’ll share here on the forum when it’s ready), and I’ve also found that the Robosource Hardware Cups for their storage tray system fit quite well if you’re looking for something you can take out for small items.

I’m hoping they work out well for this less mobile purpose, but we’ll see how it goes this season.

I agree that you should just organize it.

However, there is a limitation to making stronger boxes:

If it falls off easily, you can put it back on the box easily.
If it is hard to fall off the box, it’s hard to put back on the box.
